A South Thompson River sunset using camera motion. The two small mountains in the background are Mount Peter and Mount Paul. The symbol of Kamloops, Mt Paul and Peter stand like silent sentinels watching over the city. The history of these mountains date back to before white men settled the area in 1812. Mt Paul and Mt Peter both stand on the traditional grounds of the Secwepemc people and the Cree Saulteaux people. With the coming of the reserve system Mt Peter and Paul gained greater significance to the native population as they were forced to settle in the area around these mountains, now known as the Kamloops Indian Band reserve.
