Description
Underneath the Mt Lolo hang gliding ramp. An old broken down ramp once used by the Kamloops Hang Gliding Club as a launch. The only information I can find about the ramp are these old notes for hang gliders. "Description of Launch: Elevated ramp - big and ugly (picture a steel dinosaur). Questionable if launch is still open.
One or two wire crew are required on soarable days. Not for the faint of heart. An intimidating launch with Big Air.
Works particularly well when the valley is suffering from an inversion. Pay attention here. You can get caught low very quickly and easily.
Description of LZ: Large flat fields east or west of Ashcroft Manor. Sometimes bumpy due to thermals breaking off.
You can also land on top but not at takeoff.
Landing: The designated LZ is northwest of the Ashcroft Manor. You may land behind the manor but ask first.
Beware of thermal turbulence in the LZ.
If you land on the flats behind the "Ashcroft Ranch" (the area between the bottom of the mountain and Hwy 1.)
- You MUST report on the farm manager BEFORE continuing past the ranch and up onto the flats."
Mt Lolo used to be a military base but is now decomissioned. The movie "Cadence" was filmed here with Charlie and Martin Sheen.
Photographed at the top of Mt Lolo, Kamloops, BC Canada. Photo has a gritty sepia look.

Beautiful. I used to fly for a living but not sure I could make myself head down this ramp. F/L/T
Theresa Tahara replied:
Thanks, Mark. There is no way I could do it. Official height of the mountain is 5735 feet and I thought the wind was going to blow me over the edge. lol
